Our view
It presents a very clean light-golden yellow colour.
The first aromas to emerge on the nose are those of white fruit and stone fruit, followed by white flowers. These clean and direct scents are intertwined with those of dried herbs, marshmallow and the greasiness of olives, to, in another twist, return to fruit, which in this case will be of the citrus kind with lemon zest and the flesh of dehydrated oranges and tangerines.
With airing we observe the rising sweetness of white honey sprinkled with asian spices. It increases in complexity adding oxidized notes and a range of mineral touches that go from ferric to limestone, going through salt, chalk and a subtle hint of soap .
It is to be noted how well it is all assembled depicting a deep and perfumed aromatic picture.
The mouth features and outstanding balance between its excellent acidity and an unctuous touch that smoothes the feel with the green and savoury flavour of green olives. It is long and strong-bodied, combining the tastes of lime and salt with sweet ones. Extremely tasty.
Memories of plaster surface with notes of sea flavours and oxidized fruit. Dry, fresh and vertical, this mouth is undoubtedly sharp but elegant, lively, crispy and electric, with personality.
Its agile touch fools you into believing it’s lighter than what it actually is. It grows in your glass and in your mouth.
Useful information and pairing tips:
A Espedrada 2021 is a seemingly easy wine that with the help of oxygen unveils character and complexity. It is full of flavour, cheerful, easy to drink and with a long life ahead.
Its apparent levity allows it to pair with all types of starters and hors d’oeuvres, its fruitness courts all kinds of seafood, specially crayfish and white fish. Yet when its sharp acidity arises it is when is best paired with greasy fish as turbot, tuna or salmon, not to mention the humble but flavourful sardines, fresh anchovies, mackerel and herrings.
It is capable of facing up and taming the bitterness of artichokes and asparagus. Its round estructure gives support to rice, pasta white meats and poultry.
And on the whole will be the perfect enhancer of spicy and exotic cuisine (magnificent with ceviches, sushi and curries), magnifying the exquisiteness of a good steak tartar and all the array of smoked preparations, both fish and meat.
