Viladequinta is the result of three small plots (the largest is 1500 m) facing north-east on a very steep slope with very poor slates soils, 750 metres above sea level. They are located on the north side of the V shaped Valley, opposite O Cabalin slope. They were planted between 1925 and 1930

Our wine

Very clean, shiny and not too intense cherry red color with garnet hues.

Its aromatic depth can be immediately perceived as soon as it is uncorked. It feels as if its scents would draw you to the bushes and undergrowth of the plot where it originated. In those bushes, chirpy bunches of ripe and fleshy black berries, merrily float in a pool of yogurt, releasing acid and bitter aromas.

It gradually displays more serious and savoury scents such as those from black olives, tobacco leaves, black pepper and smoke which are joined by the mineral memory of pincel lead (graphite) and the lighter and sweeter aromas of hard candy.

The mouth runs in parallel with the nose: it is deep, alluring and wildly fruity, but whereas in the nose the fruit was predominantly black and blue, in the mouth the touch is fresh and crispy and you can feel all the colours you would find on a stroll through the woods: blackberries, cherries, blueberries, red currants, sloes, raspberries and wild strawberries.

It has an intense feel and taste, with the added complexity of a saulty touch which balances its flavour and increases its length. Its beautiful acidity, provides a bright and cheerful spark.

Useful tips:

Viladequinta 2018 is a wine that depicts a landscape so it is best enjoyed in a natural background, even if is just through a window.

Yet its combination of flavours seamlessly blends with autum/winter food favourites such as all red meats, from the tenderest to the more gamey, grilled, BBQ or in a cozy stew.

However and due to its finesse, it will enhance the flavour of blue fish like tuna, red tuna, swordfish and salmon, and of the more humble sardine, trout and mackerel, roasted or cooked in rich and spicy sauces.

It is thoroughly enjoyable right now but we are certain it will beautifully evolve in the following years.
